This was part of the incredible Raw Impressions festival,which mixed and matched writers, composers and directors, gave us a cast on the spot and two days to write the piece, two days to shoot and a few more to edit. Neben seiner Kellerbar mit dem Namen Cheers hat er noch eine andere Leidenschaft - Frauen. Dazu greift er auf sein legendäres schwarzes Buch mit über 2500 Namen und Telefonnummern zurück. Zum Personal gehören die junge und altkluge Bedienung Diane Chambers (Shelley Long), die resolute und vorlaute Carla Tortelli (Rhea Perlman) sowie der naive Barmann Ernie Pantuso (Nicholas Colasanto). Prekäres Detail: Carla hasst Diane aus tiefsten Herzen! Ebenfalls "zum Inventar" gehören eine bunte Mischung treuer und bierseliger Stammgäste. Der arbeitslose Buchhalter Norm Peterson (George Wendt) wird beim Eintreten in die Kneipe mit einem lauten "NORM!" begrüßt. Als die Serienerfinder Les Charles, James Burrows und Glen Charles die Kneipe in der Beacon Street 84 in Boston entdeckten, hieß sie noch Bull & Finch Pub. Diesen Namen behielt sie auch über die gesamte Laufzeit der Serie. Erst acht Jahre nach Ende der Serie änderte er sich offiziell in "Cheers". Die 273-teilige US-SitCom war mit elf Jahren Laufzeit, Top-Quoten und zahlreichen Fernsehpreisen in den USA (u.a. sechs Golden Globes) eine der erfolgreichsten Serien überhaupt. Charaktere wie Frasier und Cliff waren ursprünglich nur als Gastauftritt geplant, wurden jedoch im Laufe der Serien zu absoluten Kultfiguren.
