Jammin' In New York is George Carlin's eighth special to be seen on HBO, recorded on April 24 and 25, 1992 at the Paramount Theater, on the grounds of Madison Square Garden in New York City. Topics include the war in the Persian Gulf, similarities and differences among average Americans, and the language used at airports. The album won a Grammy Award in 1993 for Best Spoken Comedy Album.
George Denis Patrick Carlin (May 12, 1937 - June 22, 2008) was an American stand-up comedian, actor and author who won four Grammy Awards for his comedy albums.
Carlin was noted for his political insights, black humor, language observations, psychology, religion and various taboo subjects. Carlin and his "Seven Dirty Words" comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a narrow 5-4 decision by the justices affirmed the government's power to regulate indecent material on the public airwaves.
In the 1990s and 2000s, Carlin's stand-up routines focused on the flaws in modern-day America. He often took on contemporary political issues in the United States and satirized the excesses of American culture.
He was placed second on the Comedy Central cable television network list of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians, ahead of Lenny Bruce and behind Richard Pryor. He was a frequent performer and guest host on The Tonight Show during the three-decade Johnny Carson era, and was also the first person to host Saturday Night Live. George Carlin "Why are we here |

Comic genius Robin Williams was riding high with his starring role on the hit television sitcom Mork & Mindy when he recorded 1979's Reality...What a Concept, his debut comedy album. It was recorded live at the Copacabana in New York City and the Boarding House in San Francisco. Reality...What a Concept reached the Top Ten and went gold, which is more a testament to Williams' soaring popularity than the actual quality of the album, despite the fact it won the Grammy award for best comedy recording. Quite simply, Williams' maniacal, improvisational style at the time did not lend itself to cohesiveness. Williams had difficulty harnessing his own explosive brilliance, and as a result Reality...What a Concept is disjointed. The funniest tracks are "Kindergarten of the Stars," "Reverend Earnest Angry," "Shakespeare (A Meltdowner's Nightmare)," and "Tank You, Boyce." Williams' youthful exuberance and zaniness are evident, but he didn't make a focused, outstanding comedy album until several years later with A Night at the Met, which also benefited from the fact that he'd kicked alcohol and drugs. As of early 2002, Reality...What a Concept had not yet been reissued on CD. ~ Bret Adams, All Music Guide
I must apologize for the quality and the video. I'm not good at this at all!, but I wanted to give others the chance I had, by listening to this. Enjoy the audio. Part 2 of 5

Neil Hannon's perfect musical version of the poem Lucy, written by William Wordsworth. As with the other songs i've uploaded, I couldn't find the album version on YouTube so here it is.
¨¨¨¨¨
I travelled among unknown men
In lands beyond the sea;
Nor, England, did I know 'til then
What love I bore to thee!
'Tis past, that melancholy dream -
Nor will I quit thy shore
A second time, for I still seem
To love thee more and more.
Among thy mountains did I feel
The joy of my desire,
And she I cherished turned her wheel
Beside an English fire.
By mornings showed, by nights concealed
The bowers where Lucy played;
And thine, too, is the last green field
That Lucy's eye surveyed.
She dwelt among the untrodden ways
Beside the springs of Dove;
A maid whom there were none to praise
And very few to love.
A violet by a mossy stone,
Half hidden from the eye;
Fair as a star, when only one
Is shining in the sky.
She lived alone, and few could know
When Lucy ceased to be;
But she is in her grave, and oh!
The difference to me!
A slumber did my spirit seal;
I had no human fears.
She seemed a thing that could not feel
The touch of earthly years.
No motion has she now, no force;
She neither hears nor sees -
Rolled round in earth's diurnal course
With rocks, and stones, and trees. The Divine Comedy : Lucy (albu |

Billy Connolly live at the Hammersmith Odeon in London.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_at_the_Odeon_Hammersmith_London
Live at the Odeon Hammersmith London is the title of a 1991 comedy album release and a videotaped performance by Billy Connolly. It was recorded and filmed during several of Connolly's performances at the Odeon Hammersmith theatre in London, England in June 1991 and released in the fall of that year. The album was released by Virgin Records and produced by Stuart Epps.
Connolly combines observations of current political situations with remembrances of his own childhood during the performance. In the introduction to the CD, Billy refers to Carol Thatcher, who had recently walked out of one of his shows, commenting that it was a pity her brother Mark had not driven her home, referring to how he (Mark) had got lost during the Paris-Dakar Rally in 1982.
Other moments from this show include his recounting of a disastrous, diahorrea-and-sunburn-ridden holiday to Ibiza, a school trip to go swimming in the North Sea, and his discussion of the then-current issue regarding pit bulls. 1/5 Billy Connolly at the Hamm |
