Mr. Bean is a British comedy television series of 14 half-hour episodes starring Rowan Atkinson as the title character. Different episodes were written by Rowan Atkinson, Robin Driscoll, Richard Curtis and one by Ben Elton. The self-titled first episode was broadcast on 1 January 1990, with the final episode, "Goodnight, Mr. Bean", on 31 October 1995
Based on a character developed by Rowan Atkinson at university, the series followed the exploits of Mr. Bean, described by Atkinson as "a child in a grown man's body",in solving various problems presented by everyday tasks and often causing disruption in the process.
During its five year run the series gained large UK audience figures, including 18.74 million for the 1992 episode "The Trouble With Mr Bean", which was the recipient of a number of international awards, including the Rose d'Or, and has had an enduring effect on popular culture. The show has been sold in over 200 territories worldwide, and has inspired two feature films and an animated cartoon spin-off.
Origins and influences
The character of Mr. Bean was first developed when Rowan Atkinson was studying for his MSc at Oxford University. A sketch featuring the character was being performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in the early 1980s. A similar character called Robert Box, played by Atkinson, appeared in the one-off 1979 ITV sitcom Canned Laughter, which also featured a routine used in the film version. In 1987, one of Mr. Bean's earliest appearances occurred at the "Just For Laughs" comedy festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. When program co-ordinators were scheduling Atkinson into the festival program, Atkinson insisted that he perform on the French-speaking bill rather than the English-speaking program. Having no French dialogue in his act at all, program co-ordinators could not understand why Atkinson wanted to perform on the French bill. As it turned out, Atkinson's act at the festival was a test platform for the Mr. Bean character and Atkinson wanted to see how the silent character's physical comedy would fare on an international stage with a non-English speaking audience.
The name of the character was not decided after the first programme had been produced, with a number of other vegetable-influenced names, such as Mr. Cauliflower, being explored. Rowan Atkinson has cited the earlier comedy character Monsieur Hulot, created by French comedian and director Jacques Tati, as an influence on the character of Mr. Bean. Stylistically, Mr. Bean is also very similar to early silent films, relying purely upon physical comedy, with Mr. Bean speaking very little dialogue. This has allowed the series to be sold worldwide without any significant changes to dialogue.
Characters
Mr. Bean
The title character, played by Rowan Atkinson, is a slow-witted, sometimes ingenious, selfish and generally likable buffoon who brings various unusual schemes and connivances to everyday tasks. He lives alone in his small flat in Highbury, North London, and is almost always seen in his trademark tweed jacket and skinny red tie. Mr. Bean rarely speaks, and when he does it is generally only a few mumbled words. His first name (he names himself "Bean" to others) and profession, if any, are never mentioned, though he has been shown in the first episode to have a strong knowledge of trigonometry. (In the first film adaptation, on his passport "Mr." appears under the "first name" field and he is shown employed as a guard at London's National Gallery. In Mr. Bean's Holiday, "Rowan" is seen on his passport name field

Frugal Game (慳錢家族) - Part 10
Starring: Miriam Yeung, Eric Tsang, Carol Cheng, Eason Chan, Wayne Lai
Genres: Comedy
Year 2002
Hong Kong Movies
Cantonese Version
Wai (Eric Tsang) is the father of two kids, the elder of which is college graduate Chin-Wah (Miriam Yeung). Without a job since graduation, Chin-Wah handles the home while Dad is off working at a hotel. Or so he says. In fact, he was laid off months earlier by evil supervisor Diana (Carol Cheng). Wai now passes his time in a fast food restaurant along with numerous other unemployed workers, all using their cell phones to hunt for jobs or even run their businesses. Things are so dire that when the restaurant advertises for cleaning people, some even offer to work for food. It's almost like Silicon Valley.
However, Wai gets an offer from the newly-unemployed Diana. She wants to compete in "Frugal Game," a reality TV show where families of unemployed individuals compete. She's unmarried (and is actually a sugar mommy to jerky bastard Conroy Chan), and wants Wai's family to create the family of four that's required to compete. Though hesitant, Wai and his family eventually agree. The contest runs like this: each family lives in an assigneed candy-colored apartment for a week, and has only 500 HK dollars to spend. They can't get help from specific external forces (i.e. charity, friends, etc.), and must pay to use the apartment's numerous facilities (TV, bathroom, and utilities). At the end of the week, the family with the most money wins.

JUST COULDNT RESIST MAKING THIS!
Planes, Trains & Automobiles is an American comedy movie produced by Paramount Pictures in 1987. It was written and directed by John Hughes and stars Steve Martin and John Candy. Laila Robins co-stars and the film features cameos by Michael McKean, Kevin Bacon, Lyman Ward and William Windom. The movie also features Ben Stein, Larry Hankin, Edie McClurg, Dylan Baker, Bill Erwin and Matthew Lawrence.
The movie follows the story of Neal Page as he tries to return to his family for Thanksgiving in Chicago after being on a business trip in New York. The journey is doomed from the outset, with Del Griffith interfering by snatching the taxi cab that Page had hailed for himself. The two inevitably pair up later and begin an absurdly error-prone adventure to help Page to get back to his home. Their flight from JFK Airport to O'Hare is diverted to Wichita due to a blizzard in Chicago, which ends up dissipating only a few hours after touchdown in Kansas. When every mode of transport fails them, what should have been a 1 hour and 45 minute New York-to-Chicago flight turns into a three-day wild goose chase, punctuated by Neal's occasional declarations to no one in particular that, "You're messing with the wrong guy!".
Three actors in this film were also in John Hughes' film Ferris Bueller's Day Off: Edie McClurg, who played the rental agent in the infamous "fuck" scene, played principal Ed Rooney's secretary, Grace. Lyman Ward, Neal's co-worker at the beginning of the film, played Tom Bueller, Ferris's father and Ben Stein, who has a cameo as ticket counter customer, was also featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, as Ferris's put-upon economics teacher.
