By far my proudest moment in comedy at the time. I'd been on the circuit for two years when I was selected after three rounds of auditions from a nationwide open-call to appear on HBO's Bad Boys of Comedy. Myself and one other comic, K-Dubbs, were the only new comics out of the 72 selected to tape for the show.
Out of the 72 that taped only 36 actually aired. Not only did I air, BUT... out of the 36 that aired only about 12 were selected to travel to other cities to promote the upcoming series. I was asked to do so in New Orleans in November, 2004. The show was taped in July, 2004 and premiered in July, 2005. Bad Boys of Comedy |

*Note* Due to the growing number of random ass filled comments (if you don't like it you can just give it a 1 star, there's no need to go all ape shit), i am now turning off the commenting on this video. My apologies, I did not mean to make you waste your time watching the "whole" thing while you sat there with the mouse in your hand thinking "this is stupid". that was not my intention in posting this video, but rather to share a clip of an comedian/actor i favor. if there is another you enjoy more go ahead and go watch him/her. there is no need to blast random hate around (to other people who are commenting, whether they liked or disliked this video). Thank you for understanding.
Performs his stand up comedy act using physical comedy and impression of the Candy Man. I love Jim Carrey, he's always been one of my favorite comedians. So I wanted to share this with others.

Robert DeNiro as the hideously dillusional wannabe stalker rupert Pupkin in Martin Scorsese's classic comedy. Here his my favorite scene as he talks to Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis)in a restaurant about taking over his show for six weeks - only it turns out he's actually talking to himself in his bedroom with his mum hollering through to him from the other room. For those who don't know, dry wit or humor told in such a way that
it's not always obvious. The weird thing about Archie is that his wit and humor aren't even obvious to him because it's unintentional. It's not laugh-out-loud-HAHA humor but rather something that requires a bit of thought to get. Try searching for videos of comedian Steven Wright.
David Cook is really funny and witty. Listen to his first impression of Syeesha as a mute. And then his interaction with Archuleta. Cook is right on. Poor Archuleta seems completely oblivious as to how lovably goofy he is. His confused face at the end is priceless. You can hear the crew giggling.
Syeesha calls Cook, "fancy." In some circles, that means gay (as in "fancy boy") but she meant intelligent. I agree, I don't think any Top 24 contestant has seemed more intelligent or eloquent. Can you imagine anyone else saying, "metaphorical blinders"? If I had met him, I would've thought that he's philosophy grad student, not a rock singer or bartender.
The two Davids can become a comedy team if this music thing fails. Of course, lovably clueless Archuleta may not be aware that he's doing comedy. I loved the way he asked, "What's dry wit?"
=======
Check out the TV Guide poll and you'd see Archuleta leading by a lot in the beginning, with Cook skyrocketing up. Syeesha was always very low.

George Carlin: 40 Years of Comedy was comedian George Carlin's tenth HBO special. It aired live from the Wheeler Theater in Aspen, Colorado as part of the US Comedy Arts Festival. Unlike Carlin's other stand-up specials, this special contains only 27 minutes of stand-up performance. The rest of the special is a retrospective celebrating Carlin's 40th anniversary in entertainment featuring clips of his television appearances and an interview with host Jon Stewart. Some of Carlin's material was repeated in his next special You Are All Diseased.
George Denis Patrick Carlin (May 12, 1937 - June 22, 2008) was an American stand-up comedian, actor and author who won four Grammy Awards for his comedy albums.
Carlin was noted for his political insights, black humor, language observations, psychology, religion and various taboo subjects. Carlin and his "Seven Dirty Words" comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a narrow 5-4 decision by the justices affirmed the government's power to regulate indecent material on the public airwaves.
In the 1990s and 2000s, Carlin's stand-up routines focused on the flaws in modern-day America. He often took on contemporary political issues in the United States and satirized the excesses of American culture.
He was placed second on the Comedy Central cable television network list of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians, ahead of Lenny Bruce and behind Richard Pryor. He was a frequent performer and guest host on The Tonight Show during the three-decade Johnny Carson era, and was also the first person to host Saturday Night Live. George Carlin: 40 Years of Com |
From the episode, "Lucy Meets the Moustache" of the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. The song meant so much more since it was the last episode of the popular I Love Lucy series. Lucy and Desi were also divorcing after a long tumultuous marriage. They still loved each other very much, but the problems that plagued the marriage couldn't keep them together. However, they remained friends even after they married other people, and when Desi died, Lucy was devastated. So in a sense, this song was meaningful for them both. All that they could give each other was love....that's all.
The last lines of the show....
Lucy: "Honey, honey, I just wanted to help."
Ricky: "From now on, you can help me by not trying to help me. But thanks, anyway."

That's All
Lyrics & Music by Alan Brandt and Bob Haymes, 1952
[brackets indicate Edie Adams' variation on the song]
I can only give you love that lasts forever
And a [the] promise to be near each time you call
And the only heart I own for you and you alone
That's all, that's all
I can only give you country walks in springtime
And a hand to hold when leaves begin to fall
And a love whose burning light will warm the winter night
That's all, that's all
There are those I am sure [who] have told you
They would give you the world for a toy
All I have are these arms to enfold you
And a love even time can't destroy
[And a love time can never destroy]
If you're wondering what I'm asking in return, dear
You'll be glad to know that my demands are small
Say it's me that you'll adore for now and evermore
That's all, that's all
[the following are not part of the original composition and what makes Edie Adams' version so special and unique]
I love you
Yes, I love you
That's all....

Broadcast November 25, 1981 -- Veteran dancer Gregory Hines (1946-2003) dances a duet with "beginner" Steve Martin (born 1945), who says he has just completed his "first MGM musical," "Pennies from Heaven." This was a bright spot in an era of few TV variety shows. Greg Hines was already beloved in the worldwide dance communities, and Martin was carving a niche for himself in traditional Terpsichore, which was insignificant to most entertainers in 1981. This was, after all, four years before the MGM film "That's Dancin'" validated the work of many old song and dance artists. The song "Fit As A Fiddle" was written in 1932 by Arthur Freed (lyrics) and Al Goodhart & Al Hoffman (music). This little bit of show biz gave Martin another well-deserved feather in his cap, one that set him apart from any other stand up or sketch comedian. Gregory Hines & Steve Martin T |
