This is a documentary-style video, taken late in the life of our brown 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass, nicknamed "Prairie Dog". Starting with the car's discovery on cement blocks in the backyard of grandma Corelli's house in Arlington, to this 1994 video, at least 7 people in the family claimed it as primary transportation at one point or another. It gained a reputation for starting easily, but losing pieces and parts. By '94 there were many new fasteners and glue that did not ship from the factory. This was a classic year for the cutlass (rhymes with "gutless"), with its heroic 110 horsepower V6. Ironically, the anemic motor made this car great in the snow (breaking traction in any weather was not possible). I coaxed him to narrate this video as we explored its rich history. Much of the amusing driving anectodes are missing (hitting a wild turkey, engine fire, exhaust leaks), but the physical car is well described in this comical video. ACP P.S. After this video was shot, the car was passed to older sister Holly, who finally (thankfully) presided over its loss. The car was stolen twice from her in Brooklyn, the first time simply as alternative transportation to the subway by someone in Queens. The second time, marked the last time the car was seen.
