The Economy Drive. Having come home from holiday to find that Sid has left all the lights on, the TV running, and failed to cancel the milk and the papers, Hancock decides to go on an economy drive. Problems arise in a self-service cafeteria, and even a short stay in hospital fails to save them any money.

In 2007 'The British Egg Information Service' wanted to revive Tony Hancock's famous TV adverts from the 1960s in which he encouraged people to "Go To Work On An Egg". Their hopes of re-running the ads to mark the 50th anniversary of the British Lion mark were however blocked by regulators on health grounds. The Broadcasting Advertising Clearance Centre (BACC) who vet all TV adverts said the famous commercials could not be repeated because eating eggs every day went against the policy of encouraging people to eat a varied diet. BARMY OR WHAT?

Although it didn't provide Hancock with the big screen breakthrough he'd hoped for, the film The Rebel had some fine comedy moments, and this is one of the best. The landlady is played by the wonderful Irene Handl.

Kenneth appears in an episode of Parkinson from 1980. This is a masterclass in anecdote telling. Everything about this performance is perfect. The versatility of the voice, the timing, the material, and most of all...the man. Behold, a comedy genius at his very peak. "Seven guineas for a bra?...cheaper to have your tits off!!..." .

Kenneth interviews the actor and comedian Stephen Fry in an episode of Wogan first broadcast in April 1986.

Hancock's career was already in terminal decline when he gave this live stand up performance on October 15th 1966. Although the overall quality of his material was very poor, occasional glimpses of his genius were in evidence. Here is a short excerpt from the show.
